Las Vegas Attractions

When you think of Las Vegas the first thing you think about is the Strip and the famous hotels and casinos. There are even Vegas Strip tours available where you can see the city lights or any of the casino outdoor light or water shows.  But there are a lot of other very exciting places to visit.

You can take several different bus tours to the Grand Canyon where you can view one of the most beautiful places on earth. The typical tour will take about 11 hours and give you enough time for a scenic walk and lunch. For the more adventurous, there are helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon where you can revel in views seen by very few others.>

ChatYou could also choose to visit the Red Rock Canyon and tour the Valley if Fire. These trips are available by bus or jeep and offer some of the most spectacular views in the south west. You could also partake in a 5 hour horseback ride through the canyon where you can get a intimate view of the red sandstone formations and multicolored high desert mountain scenery.

If you are looking for some water adventures, you can book a trip to Lake Mead for a river boat excursion or the Colorado River for some white water rafting. One tour offers the combination of a Hummer ride to the dam and an 11 mile raft trip down the Colorado River. You can also book overnight river rafting trips.

The Las Vegas Monorail

When you pick a hotel for your stay at Las Vegas you are going to need to think about your transportation. ChatOf course cab s are always available and you could rent a car, but the convenience of the Las Vegas Monorail is also available, if you pick the right hotel. The monorail is great for attending the convention center or for visiting casinos on the opposite end of the strip. The monorail connects the Convention Center to many North and South Strip Hotels. Even though there are dozens of hotels within walking distance of the monorail, only a few offer real convenience.

There are seven monorail stops. At the north end of the strip is the Sahara Stop. Heading south from the Sahara you will stop at the Hilton, the Convention Center, Harrah’s, The Flamingo, Bally’s and finally the MGM Grand. Stay at any of these hotels and you will have very close access to the monorail. There are many other hotels within a short walk of the monorail. At the Harrah’s stop you also have easy access to the Imperial Palace and the Mirage is just across the street. At the Flamingo stop you have Caesars Palace directly across Las Vegas Blvd. The Bellagio is just across the street from the Bally’s stop and the Paris is right next door. The last stop going south is the MGM stop with easy access to New York New York just across Las Vegas Blvd.

The total trip takes about 14 minutes and costs $5. You can also purchase a 1 day pass for $14 and a three day pass for $30. The train operates Monday thru Thursday from 7 am till 2 am and on weekends from 7 am thru 3 am.
